tumble & tea cafe was founded by two stay-at-home moms and good friends, Georgina De Carlo and Sue Older. We knew exactly what we wanted and we also knew that it did not exist (at least how we envisioned it). One day, at lunch, while I nursed my newborn, Sadie, and we scrambled to keep an eye on our rambunctious toddlers, Gina and I decided that we had had enough. It was up to us to make our dream a reality. We spit, we shook, and the rest is history. On that day, we bought business plan software, and got to work. This was our goal: to create a safe environment where our kids could play; where we could see them at all times; where we could get an excellent cup of coffee, a healthy snack; and, most importantly, the chance to finish an entire sentence with another adult. We knew it could be done and we were (and still are) the two gals crazy enought to pull it off.
Our other goal was to create an environment for adults as well as their children. Why should I have to sit on a chair designed for a toddler tush? I'm paying the admission here...
So, with all of this in mind, we bring you tumble & tea, a place for you and a place for me. We hope we have met your expectations and created an environment that fosters community and child rearing in an eclectic and welcoming environment. We welcome all feedback, the good, the bad, and even, the ugly, because our goal is to provide the service that keeps you sane and coming back for more.
Update - May 2008 - I recently bought my partner Gina's share of the business. Gina will be embarking on a new franchise endeavor using the tumble & tea name, while I will stay on board here at 4210 Telegraph with a new name (coming soon...) and some exciting new changes that I hope will further enhance you and your child's experience here at the Cafe. We wish Gina well on her journey and as always I welcome your support and valuable feedback. - Sincerely, Sue.
